Acceptance is Awakening to what is!

Awakening = Rising above thinking

Acceptance = Allowing this moment to be exactly as it is

Sometimes, simply accepting one's resistance to what is is also enough to bring about the shift. The key is acceptance!

We may understand a concept intellectually however, we need to let our body understand it through direct experience. For example, you may know that you have childhood pain from abandonment issues and your current situation is triggering the same pain, however, the old unresolved pain is still in your body. The pain you did not allow yourself to feel when you were younger because you were  scared. By allowing those feelings to emerge, experiencing them directly, of being aware of where they are in your body you transmute them and release them bit by bit from your somatic memory. Through recognising and allowing that pain to be there with no desire to change it, resist it, or fix it.

Exercise:
Can you feel your body right now? What does your body feel like? Can you feel the pain (emotion)? Describe what it feels like, where do you feel it? And notice what happens to it as you begin to notice it: Does it get bigger or smaller? Does it stay, does it leave, does it change into some other emotion?

When starting on this journey, start small and slow. This means going only as far as you can with the experiencing and not going all the way in. It helps to have set up an internal resource so you can use it for support. When you feel overwhelmed, STOP! Connect with your resource and with the present moment. You are SAFE in your present moment.

Be aware of the mind as it will go into the story behind the trauma and you may see images. This is where your wise, calm self needs to come  in to put things into perspective. That you are safe now and there is nothing to fear. The only way out is by going in!

And if it helps, go on this journey with a qualified practitioner.
