1. Mindfulness Training for Adults
Mindfulness is a practice that relieves stress, builds resilience and increases wellbeing. It does this by promoting the qualities of stillness, presence, awareness, clarity, and grounding in our lives and in our relationships. It frees us from distress by de-stressing the mind and body through conscious awareness. Ongoing Group Weekly classes on Mindfulness. Location: Kenmore State School, Kenmore, QLD 4069 Tripty has been practicing meditation for over twenty years and has found it very useful in training the mind to be present, still and mindful. She is passionate about creating mindfulness in our daily lives and especially in stressful situations and she is passionate about reducing stressful thoughts through the WORK of Byron Katie. 2. Mindfulness Training for Children:
“You can not control the sea. You cannot stop the waves, but you can learn to surf on them”. The lives of our children are becoming busier and busier. From juggling their homework, to extracurricular activities, to playing with digital gadgets- all these activities are constantly bombarding our children with stimuli, with no opportunity to step back into stillness and rest in that. This overscheduled lifestyle, in turn, is contributing to high stress levels and anxiety in our children. Mindfulness is the cultivation of attention and awareness. This 2500-year old practice has been shown to relieve stress, build resilience and increase wellbeing. Now, more than ever, it is imperative that along with a good education, our children are taught life skills and practices that will help them to buffer the stress that school-age children find themselves navigating; and encourage them to develop life skills that can serve as a profound inner resource for children as they grow into adolescence and beyond. Benefits of mindfulness include healthy ways to deal with stress, anxiety, worry and negative thinking, increase in one’s self esteem and emotional resilience. Having witnessed the grounding and calming effect that mindfulness has been having on my ten-year old son, it has been my desire to take mindfulness into the lives of other children. Parents and carers will also have an opportunity for a free one-on-one session with me so that I can understand the needs of the child and take that into consideration in these classes.
